BIOGRAPHY

I spent a year at Dartington College of Art from 1967-1968 and went on to Camberwell School of Art and Crafts for a Diploma in Art and Design, specializing in Textiles/Fashion with Printmaking as a subsidiary subject. I have always kept my practice broad and have wished to use a wide variety of media and work in many different disciplines in order not to restrict my interests. This has meant I have worked in the theatre as a designer and costume maker, as an embroiderer for haute couture fashion, taught at art schools in the south west, and practiced as a textile and paper artist. In the last few years I have also immersed myself in camera-less photography and made hand puppets and cat mummies inspired by those of ancient Egypt.

I believe in inclusion rather than exclusion and looking at drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, textiles, and papermaking are all enriching and interconnected! It would be frustrating to be limited to only one or two areas of visual art.
